I have been through a lot. The ups and downs of life have taken a toll on me. But I keep showing up, and I do not give up. And deep within my soul, at the very core of my being, is a never-ending hope that keeps me moving forward. This hope is for my health, my future and for better days to come.
Each health struggle feels like a setback. There are days when the depression from the bipolar disorder tells my brain that I should not get out of bed. Anxiety walks my mind through every "what if" scenario. However throughout the struggle, I remain hopeful.
Part of my motivation comes from the simple fact that I am not complacent. I strive for more, better and brighter days to come. I look forward to being healthy even though my body shows signs of illness. Yet, I know that I did not make it this far just to exist in this world. I refuse to simply meet life halfway when I can be "all in".
By holding on to this deep level of hope, I realize that I do not just want to simply be a part of this world. But rather, I want to take up space within in it. I want more than just to survive every day. I want to thrive through every moment. I reflect on how far I have come and now I want more.
And the only way that I see having more is to remain hopeful. My never-ending deeply rooted hope gives me the perseverance I need to push through the migraines, the anxiety, the chronic fatigue, the bipolar mania and depression. And in my soul, I know that I can succeed in everything that I do.
I will not settle for simply surviving. Instead, I will put on my high heels and I will walk my path with pride. I put a smile on my face not because I have to. But rather, I smile because I know that I shine bright with every hopeful moment that I live through.
