The People Who Adjust Your Crown

I think it is important that we surround ourselves with people who adjust our crown on rough days.  These are the people who remind us that we are royalty in our own lives.  They tell us that we should live as the kings and queens we were born to be.

In 2021, I met a woman who has become one of my best friends.  She is like a sister to me. We were on the same team at work, and our personalities clicked immediately.  Our friendship has been such a blessing in my life.  She is a breath of fresh air to me!  She leans into happiness and away from negativity.  The foundation of her life includes faith, health and love.

When I look back on when we met, I am reminded of her always being supportive of me.  For example, two weeks into my employment, I was having a rough day.  I was sitting in my office crying.  She walked in and asked me to stand up straight.  With tears flowing down my cheeks, she put her hands gently on top of my head, making the round base of a queen's crown.  She wiggled her hands around and said, “I am adjusting your crown to make it straight on top of your head.  You got this.  Wipe your tears queen, we will get through today together”.

As a woman in my life, she reminds me that I am never too little and I am never too much.  Rather, I am perfect just the way that I am.   And she accepts me for the woman I was before I met her, the woman I am today, and the person I strive to become.   She is a special part of the village of woman that I have chosen to surround myself with as I move through life.

Today and always, as I encourage you to wear your special shoes, I hope they remind you of the important people you have in your life, too.  May the world guide you with the blessings of friends who adjust your crown on bad days.  And I hope you always walk in love and are guided by grace.
